GOVERNMENT: Florida’s Food Stamp Program Awarded National Bonus

For the third year in a row, Florida’s Food Stamp program is getting national recognition.

Florida was named the best in the nation for food stamp payment accuracy, and gained an 11 point 5 million dollar bonus.

This was the largest bonus ever received by any state from the USDA, and those at the Department of Children and Families are more than excited.

“We’re very excited about the bonus, we’re excited mostly about the accuracy of the benefit, the people that get the benefit, and the people who do the eligibility for it.” says ACCESS Director Jennifer Lange.

Lange says the legislature will decide what the bonus will go towards, but it’s possible it could help with employment.
